We’re almost to the middle of December. If you’re a teacher you’re probably counting down the days until your big holiday. If not hopefully you will get some time off (or take some time off) to enjoy yourself. One thing I’ve found is this time of year is also a great time to think about goals for your business. I like to try and give my business a report card at least every six months or so. You can do that to. You should have measurable things you include. Don’t just say customer acquisition but say get 10 new tutor clients in the next six months. When you’re grading yourself make sure to be honest. If you don’t make your goals try and figure out why and work on doing better.

Building an Online Tutor Business Part 2
Today we want to talk some about targeting the correct market for your online tutor business. We talked some in our previous article about things you can tutor. One thing I want you to remember is that tutoring online allows you to tutor almost anything. We’ll be teaching you today about how to do some research. This research will help you to figure out a few things and it will help us find some good keywords to target in our advertising and SEO.
You’ll want to do the following.
- Visit https://adwords.google.com/o/KeywordTool
- Type in the word or phrase.
- Type in the capture phrase.
- Click Search.
We searched for college algebra tutoring. We got about a hundred results.
Next you want to click the boxes next to terms you like / apply to you. You want to make sure you check those that have online within the term. Make sure you check each of the pages of your results.
Click the download button (it has a down arrow on the right side). Click “My Keyword Ideas†and a box will pop up. Choose how you want the file download. I always choose “CSV for excelâ€. You’ll then be prompted where you want the file downloaded. Make sure you remember where you download it because we’ll be using the file again.
Once you’ve downloaded it make sure the file opens up. Next time we’ll be talking about how to use those keywords to pick a domain name.
Questions please let us know. I think probably next time we’ll do a video.
