Tips for tutoring math for grade school and Jr. High.
One of the first things you want to do when tutoring Math (in grade school, Jr. high and beyond) is to do an assessment test. You can find Math assessment tests for almost every grade here – http://saxonhomeschool.hmhco.com/en/resources/result.htm?title=Placement
Based on the results you get you’ll get an idea of some things you’ll want to work on. One of the big things we’ve run into is trouble with multiplication tables.

I’m a huge fan of the Khan Academy – http://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic watch the videos with your student, do exercises related to the subject matter.

Links you can use – If you’re tutoring college – get on the colleges tutor list. An example of one can be found here – http://www.math.ucdavis.edu/courses/learning/tutors . A good way to get more students and it won’t cost you a dime. You’ll just need to check out the universities website in your area. Another idea would be to put an ad in their school newspaper.
